There’s something about the ability to take raw materials and transform them into something tangible and meaningful. What started as a small, one-woman project designing gardens for friends has flourished into sustainable outdoor living for many homeowners and businesses across the country. Tropica Tica was created in 1992 by our landscape designer Ana Cecilia Arguedas and with over 100 projects completed across Costa Rica and Central America, Tropica Tica is proof that when passion and purpose are aligned with the rhythms of nature, beautiful things grow.

Today, Tropica Tica is more than a business — it’s a movement. A growing network of homeowners, nature lovers, and sustainability advocates who believe in beauty with a purpose.

Ana Cecilia’s journey began with a simple yet powerful intention: to create natural spaces that feel like home. Her love for Costa Rica’s diverse ecosystems, vibrant colors, and rich biodiversity inspired her to craft gardens that are not only visually stunning but deeply connected to place and purpose.

Ana Cecilia built her business organically — one garden, one family, one project at a time.

Over the years, Tropica Tica has become synonymous with thoughtful, eco-conscious design. The team carefully selects native and climate-appropriate plants, prioritizes low-impact practices, and believes in working with the land, not against it.

Parque esparcimiento Medtronic

Recientemente finalizamos el proyecto de construcción de paisajismo para el parque de esparcimiento Medtronic, en la Zona Franca El Coyol. El terreno era un lote baldío que consistía de una zona plana y otra en talud. Se decidió aprovechar la parte plana para colocar piedra quinta e instalar las mesas y sillas para que los colaboradores puedan salir a almorzar o tomar el café por la tarde. Las zonas verdes al aire libre siempre brindan bienestar y son esenciales para darle a los trabajadores un lugar de descanso y ocio.

Primero se inició limpiando el terreno de mala hierba, rocas y escombros que habían quedado de construcciones anteriores. Ya con el terreno limpio se procedió a realizar las medidas y marcas donde iban los jardines, donde iba el zacate y por último la piedra quinta. Ya teniendo las marcas se instaló el sistema de riego por goteo y después el zacate y plantas.

Además se sembraron 8 árboles de Lorito para que en un futuro próximo brinden una fresca sombra al área de mesas.

A continuación pueden ver el fotomontaje realizado previo a la construcción. Y después el parque ya listo.
